Developed a spudder in Spudnick.......

Slightly side tracked.......I thought I had a fuel delivery problem, carb has a fresh rebuild, my clear fuel filter was looking bad, I swapped that out and blew the lines out.......fuel filter is FULL so I feel the pump is good.....

Specs: '79 J10/ Ford ignition swap(coil, 8.8 wires, plugs and regapping, 258 powerhouse, auto)

I'm now thinking I have some sort of electrical misfire since fuel delivery looks good.....I get a major reluctance within the motor....like a Pu..Pu..Puu...Puuu...and so on upon accelleration.....even standing still, this is a new developement......timing seems ok.

No visable sparks/shorts under the hood in darkness....

What should I chase first??

Thanks in advance!

look for rubbed through wires on the pickup coil. i've had them short when the vacuum advance moves the plate.

I'll be double checking these suggestions and the others, thanks so far......
The accelerator pump/portion of the carb was replaced in the rebuid, could it possibly be failing already?

Alrighty.....got to mess with it abit today.....

I have no vacuum leaks, fuel supply still looks good.......double checked and looked over the engine bay....no rub throughs or other......

After firing it up, checking for vacuum leaks....sitting at idle, I started thumbing the throttle....b...b.....bhhhhhhh..........done, refired...same, refired...same....refired.....major stumbles as I held the throttle open wider and wider.....................it really sounds like an electrical 'miss'.....like there was water under the cap.........after some heavy revving, it levels off smooth.....with real good throttle reponse....

From there, I shut it down and start pulling plugs.......

Carbon build up, black soot............signs of a weak spark, but I have the Ford upgrade in place.......

Any other suggestions?

Or running rich! Unfortunately I have no experience with the type of carb you are using so I am not going to be much help.
