Rocker & 1/4 panel replacements Wagoneer, advice sought.
Still contemplating getting the '74 War Wagon on the road, but it's going to need a few things besides a new windshield and tune-up. The rocker panels and rear 1/4's are shot and need to be cut out and replaced. I have never done this sort of work before, but figure this is the perfect vehicle to learn on (in case I screw up a little ). I have procured a little wire welder to learn how to attach them with and have a friend in the sheet metal business that can probably help with the removal. My question is, where is the best source for the replacement panels without breaking the bank and any advice on particulars of FSJ's in regard to this type of work to be as successful as possible with the project (i.e. anything to be careful about or keep an eye out for that is typical when doing this job on a FSJ)? Would like to make the repairs as nice as possible of course, so any help here is appreciated.

Well, I have seen them from a couple of suppliers online, but didn't want to pre-seed the post with specifics about those. Looking for info on companies that carry them, prices and any removal installation advice. Has anyone purchased the metal replacements that are available out there now and were they any good?

BJ's has what you want at reasonable prices. Several members have used them in build threads and have reported good quality.

Jeff, thanks. I had seen them there and this was one of the suppliers I was looking for feedback on. I will say, my favorite so far is the description on the JC Whitney site where they suggest you just bolt their's right over your rusted out ones...mmm, sounds like a winner to me . Now, I'm wondering if their parts are the same as everyone else that is offering replacement panels and if so, their prices are much lower than anyone else. I tend to be very leery of JCW though, as my dad used to order things from them back in the '80's and they were usually a bit subpar quality-wise. Always enjoyed looking through their catalogs though .
So, keep the feedback coming since the '88 Wagoneer I was going to make an offer on already sold, the '74 is looking like it might just get that new lease on life after all.

Well, you could always buy one rocker and see if the quality is there or not. I have always just went with what I have info on. As you say, you get what you pay sometimes.
