74 cherokee?

I am looking at buying this 1974 cherokee wagoneer. At least that is how it is listed. Can you tell if it is a cherokee or a wagoneer? It has the 258 and a swapped in th400( what was the original manual). Lock out hubs on the front axle so I assume not the quadratrack. Any more info? What trim package is that? THanks

It looks like a Cherokee narrow track.
That pic looks nice. I'm not sure on the tranny, but the t-case could be a D-20.

74 first year of the Cherokee, it was only offered in 2 Door narrow trak, the WT and 4 door's came later. Just because it has hubs does not mean it does not have a quadratrac transfercase, many a quadratrac was converted to part time operation in the 70's (At one point there were I think three different companies offer conversion kits)
With the stripe, I would say it has the "S" package trim.
The front markers look like they are 76+ though (??)
More pictures and Vin numbers to tell more.
OK I looked at the ad, the other shift lever, makes me guess it has a Dana-20 T-case,
Front seats and steering wheel have also been swaped in.

Looks like an OK rig.

Seems to be a Cherokee "S" - it has a chrome bumper and the faded stripe looks like a '74, but I need to see better pics to confirm it. The wheels indicate drum brakes, and there are no bumperettes. Get us larger pics and the numbers. If the 4th and 5th numbers in the VIN are "17", it's an S.

Get us the paint code numbers (it's by the brake booster on the driver's side under the hood) - that looks like Harvest Gold or Copper Poly?

1974 is the first year for front disc brakes as an option. It might have disc but still could have drums

Could have been a T-18 Four speed or a T-150 Three speed.
(Vin # will tell)

How would a rig like this do as a daily driver? Assuming it is in good running condition. Could I get 15mpg around town?

15 is on the high side for v8s/automatics in the Cherokees.
I got 13-15 in my 74 with a tired 360 and T-15 three speed in MT at 4000' altitude
I would suggest 9-12 depending on condition/tuning plus driving in the bay area traffic.....less if you have to go over the Altamont or other passes.

Yep, post the VIN and we can tell you what the original transmission was.

Nice looking Jeep, from the picture. I'd snap it up.

Mike, the T-150 was only offered in the CJ. The FSJs got the T-15 through 1979.

It is actually a 258 and runs great. It already has the accell big coil conversion which I assume is similar to the TFI upgrade. The heater cores is plugged and one of the wipers does not really touch the windshield. I will get more pictures and vin numbers this weekend. The jeep is actually going to be for my sister for now but I will be keeping her up.

My '74 is the same color...is that the only color the had in 1974..? I see so many '74s painted that copper color.

Mine was equipped with a 258/TH400/D20 and 4 wheel drum brakes. Even has the baby moons.
