77 troubles

Troubles starting up my 77 wagoneer. I got it cranked up the other day with no problem, drove it up the driveway, down the road a little and when i came to an idle, the idle went pretty low and cut off at a stop sign. I cranked it up again, and threw it in reverse to get it home, got to the bottom of my driveway and it cut off again, when i tried to crank it up again it wouldn't crank up. It barely turns over, as if it were drained completely of oil, but i checked the oil and it's just a hair below the "add" line... I'm kind of lost at to where to look at to get something fixed... i would assume since it's trying to turn over it wouldn't be the starter (and because it's got a new starter and solenoid in it.). The battery is fully charged as well. Any suggestions as where to look? Thanks,

Zach

I appreciate the responses... But i've check what you guys have suggested and it doesn't seem like those are the problems. I'm not sure if it's the original presolite distributor... Is there a specific way i can tell? If it is the original is it know to cause particular problems? Thanks in advance.
