Jeepster creepster
I should probably have my head examined for taking on a project for someone else (which will net me a 2 wheeled British project for myself), but you only live once! I will be getting a 69 Jeepster Commando road worthy for my boss and first order of business is to get the t-case dealt with. Its a Dana 20 with an odd looking front output on it. It appears to have something of a support bearing for what appears to be some kind of stubshaft on the front output. At least it probably should as right now it's just flopping around in the housing it's supposed to be in. Its a 2 piece set up thats bolted together and attatched to the case somehow. Has anyone had any dealings with this type of animal? I've tried googling for any information I can get but have come up with squat so far. He's dropping it off in my driveway this weekend and I'll be able to post pics of what I'm talking about then.

Welcome to the madness (Jeepster Commando style).
The front drive shaft has the support bearing on it because of the distance and angle between the output of the transfer case and the front axle.
You can put a single shaft on, but under certain situations it may hit things it shouldn't.
The bearing can be replaced, but it requires having the shaft cut, the bearing pressed off and on, and the shaft re-welded and balanced.
In this situation, I (contrary to other postings) would recommend using the front lockouts. This will save the bearing, which is a sealed one and cannot be greased.
Does the bearing have the plastic cover on it?

Not really sure, I looked at it at night. I'm going by where it is this weekend to pick up the motorcycle and will probably take pictures then. Any suggestions on parts suppliers?

What sort of two wheeled British project are you getting?
Jeepsters are pretty cool.

You are rather limited as to parts specific to Jeepster. The bearing is a standard one, and should be readily available. All you have to do is find someone who will tackle the job.
Try this one http://www.jeepsterpartsdude.com/index.htm.
Let me know if you have problems locating what you need. I have the TSM, but do not have the parts books for those.

Thanks, guys. I finally di find the info that I was looking for on the front driveshaft from the american jeepster one that you suggested, J.D. I've decided to do a 1 piece front driveshaft and modify the trans crossmember if needed. It's not going to be a monster 4 wheeler, he just want it to run, drive, have working 4WD and not leave him & his wife stranded on the corner of bumf*&k & you got a perty mouth. It's real solid, being an AZ original, but the carb needs to be gone through & the ignition system has seen better days. I'm thinking 86ing the points & going with an H.E.I. setup from Davis Unified Ignition.
