WHY NO BUILD THREAD????? CONTINUED!!!!!!
Well, since you decided to close the last thread (and im sure everyone was NOT finished with) I figured I would start a new one.
So I still don't get why you can't add it?
You OBVIOUSLY know how to close a thread. But, you can't make a new section? Why not just give it a try? If it doesn't work out then close it? Is that too much to ask? Or why not have a pole? Let us the members vote and decide. But no you choose to close the old thread on this topic due to "we the admins don't want a "build up thread" ". Well, quite frankly it shouldn't be up to you. It should be up to the members. . . Your job as an admin is to monitor the site for harmful/out of line things and to keep it in order. Allowing your own opinion to get in the way of what the members want is what i have a problem with. Go ahead and close this thread like the last one. Im sure you will.

Ever think the admins have never been on other forums before? Sometimes outsourcing ideas works . . . .

The guy has a point even though he is about as suttle as a sledgehammer. The board is for and about all the members, not just the members who run the board. If members feel this is something they want, it should be addressed better than just closing up a post and saying no.
This is coming from someone who has been here for here nearly 3 years and contributes regularly to technical conversations.
This is my opinion, ignore it if you don't like it.

The board is actually RUN by members. I would be very surprised if they didn't discuss the issue at length before closing the other thread.
The comment on the admins being members of other forums is extremely valid...they try to keep this board as neat and efficient as possible so everyone can search and find things easily. They don't do that by not paying attention. They keep an eye on what works and what doesn't, both here and elsewhere. I've seen a lot of boards with a LOT of stagnant sections. If it doesn't get used there's no point in taking up that space.
I'm not judging whether or not a build forum could be good or bad, I've no preference here. I agree with what Tad said in the other thread that build threads tend to die off. It'd be great if they could all be archived with pics and all forever, but it just doesn't happen that way.
The admins made their decision...if you have issue with that I very much suggest you PM on of them, I'm sure they would be happy to discuss it with you. Trying to hold a protest in a post is a bad way to go about this.

If you so badly want a build forum then please put together a detailed proposal of said forum, rules and administration, the qualifying parameters and submit it to me. I will take it to the mods and admin and if it seems feasible we will make you the moderator of said forum and you can make it happen. Of course, we will expect you to moderate it daily and clean it up and merge and delete posts as necessary. Sounds good to me! When can I expect your proposed outline?
Oh, yes... and I expect you to provide a detailed reference to your FSJ experience from 1962 to 1991, including the engines, body types, special editions, common AMC quirks and common mods to verify your expertise in moderating said forum. Easy stuff man. Just PM me your proposal. I'm glad you are so enthusiastic in taking on this project!
And, sweetie, poll doesn't have an "e" in it.

Start your own build thread in the proper forum and put a link to it in your sig. Simple & Effective. What is so hard to understand about that?

This forum is a good place, and has some great people, but....
It *is* sorely lacking compared to other automotive forums.
Most have many many different forums for each topic, sadly only a few here.
Your tone won't get anything accomplished here other than a timeout, or a flat out ban.
I suggested a simple addition for a vehicles only forum in the classifieds.
Never went anywhere
Many people have made good suggestions, most just wither away and die.
EDIT:
This is a primary reason that the same questions get asked over and over and over and over and over again.
Because everything is lumped into a "general" forum that can include just about anything.
Divide it up, into use-able specific subforums and this doesn't happen because people could find info easier.

If the 39th post on the other thread was posted early on I think things would have been understood a little easier. By letting it go I think the admin was hoping it would die... it didnt... it was killed...
