What is this for, and what do you call that

I just bought a doner truck to get the open knuckle d44's off for my 63 j300. I have both axles off and am getting ready to put them under my truck (after I do the front disk brake swap.

1, my front axle is soa, but my new axle is spring under, (I want to keep it soa) so I need to weld up new mounts onto the axle for my springs to mount, What is that mount part called. I tried searching but hard to locate without the proper name. Is this a common thing I could find at an auto parts store or something I need to order.

2, my new rear axle has a small tube coming out of it facing up, about the size of a valve stem, but no threads, it is a little flared on the end like a rubber hose should be on it. What is this thing?

Thanks in advance folks!

1. Spring Perches

2. It is a vent and sometimes there is a vent tube attached. Helps keep the gunk out.

1.
Those will not work for him.
He'll need 2" wide front perches to match his older front post mount springs (I do make those also on request) and will need to place them in the same locations that the originals are located at. The SOA versions pictured there are for our newer axles and are two different sizes (one sized for the tube and one sized for the diff pumkin), he'll need two that match the tube diameter.
Also, the original spring plates on the front post mount trucks are sort of goofy but I think Hell Creek still overs a really nice retrofit kit still (didn't see it on BJ's site).

2.
Correct.
Once the axle is installed the tube needs to be replaced and run it up as high as you can without kinking it.

Might as well make two sets Tad!

The hellcreek ubolt and plate kit is NICE. Well worth the money. Can't wait to use mine.

Doesn't he have to set the new D44 up for high steer as well? I don't think the rod end is going to match up..

Yours got cut last week, just need to weld them up.
I can't find a pic of the HellCreek kit but I see it listed on the site.

The draglink TRE is smaller on the older rigs with closed knuckles.
Switching to the newer pitman arm and using the open knuckle drag link should take care of that.
