Painted Today (pics)

Well lets just say my "Jeep RUNS well now". It was my first time ever painting a car so all you purest out there im sorry it had to be on a Wagoneer. But I must say I trully enjoyed it and can't wait to do the inside tomorrow. I do have a lot of runs but what can I ecpect for my first time. I would do it again in a second.

Looks good. Kudos I don't think I'd have the cajones to try and paint mine.

what type of paint did you use? is it a base coat clearcoat system, or a 1 stage enamel, or even laquer? if it is a 1 part system which i am assuming it is, then you dont need to respray. wet sand the runs out with 1500 then sand them again with 2500 or 3000. after that buff it all shinny with some good rubbing compound. as far as how long to wait it should say somthing on the paint cans. but as long as the tempature is around 70 or higher you should be good in 24 hours.

Protect yourself with a better 'paint respirator' next time...
Otherwise it's looking good. Always a great feeling to get her done, it's that initial prep work that always drove me nuts..

go along and take a razor blade to the runs. You wont get then with sanding you'll end up sanding all the paint except the run. Take a razor blade and hold it at about a 60-80 degree angle down then drag it down acoss the run. it should shave it down. Once you get the runs off. you can either now wetsand or make another coat depending on your paint type.

Looks good from this keyboard! Your efforts will be worth it.
It would be a miracle to see my GW in one single, shiny color.

Woohoo! Shiny!

Yep, that's a dust mask. Won't keep out the solvent, much less the CYANIDE in automobile paint. Catalyzed automobile paint can mess you up ... pros wear a full body suit with a pressurized mask.

Yeah I should have spurged for the $20 can mask. I had to take a few breathers outside. Lesson learned though. Im painting the inside today and going to get a better mask for that.
