Hello,
The rear pinion and gears in my 78 Chief (4.56) are toast, and I found a 60's J-2000 for next to nothing. I believe it would have a closed knuckles, drum brake front 44, and possibly 4.10 gears. Could I swap my newer 44's flanges (whatever they are called in English) into the J-2000's dana 44? Thanks...
Mikel

may need to elaborate more on 'flanges'....not sure what you mean.

There is a difference in 44's of old and new, carrier-wise....the older 44's had a 19 spline diff and the newer have a 30 spline diff.

so if you are referring to any of the inards.... no...

Todd, I'll try again
Could I swap the newer knuckles (with disk brakes) into the J-2000's older axle?
Thanks.
