Tailgate solution

Hi folks. Since the tailgates are the first thing to go on J trucks...what are ya'll running on yours? I am considering a net but think that is a pretty boring fix. My factory gate is more rust than gate...

When you don't run a gate, the whole bed will flop around and hasten it's demise.

The way they connect on jeep beds lends itself to very easy fabbing of something to replace.

I certainly wouldn't mind a tailgate...but I was curious what folks were doing when they didn't have one...it seems like there would be more folks without one at this point.

I could change that for you.. Paint your truck the dark metallic green and I have a virtual NOS tailgate for you.

I just luck out. A couple of years ago I looked at an 85 j20 that was for sale that had been used as a tow truck so they had removed the tailgate. I didn't buy the truck because it was rusted out. I finally did get a j20 and am now rebuilding it and called this guy to see if he still had the tailgate and lucky for me he sold or more likely junked the truck he had and was willing to sell the tailgate. I picked it up for 300 bucks along with the front and rear bumpers that had also been removed, it is brand new, not a scratch on it.

That was a good score for sure.
I've got over $600 into my green tailgate alone. One day I'll find something worthy of hanging it and the NOS fenders and doors on. Until then they make good livingroom points of interest.
