Air Vent Question A/C

Took my A/C vents down today to get at my side leaf collectors. When I was removing the vent housing under the steering wheel there was a plug in the back. WHAT IS THIS PLUG? 87 Grand Wagoneer

Im talking about the A/C vents under the dash. I was cleaning the freash air vents on the side.

I think term is resistor(relay), if its not plugged in the A/C blower(fan) does not come on.

Blower resistor. It is what regulates the different speeds.

Yup. And if you forget to plug it back in, you'll drive yourself batty trying to figure out why your A/C motor isn't working.
