Air Shocks for wagy

I am looking to know if anyone has part numbers/make for an air shock that will fit the front of a 89 wagoneer.

I have one that I put a plow on, it sags the front some and I am just trying to beaf it up with out going threw the trouble of replacing the leaf spring or adding to them. Just trying to get out cheap as this is the only thing I use the jeep for.

The problem I have is that all the shocks that I have found have the eyelets inlign with each other, were as the front of the wagys are set up for one eyelet 90 degree of the other, I got a shock set, but I could not turn it with out busting the diaphram inside..


any one know what/were I can get a set that will work?

They actually are not 90 degrees out exactly, you are going to have to find a set that can freely rotate. But honestly, I would put a full length AAL up front.

I just ordered a set of air shocks for my waggy this morning. they'll be here tomorrow. I only ordered a pair, since I know they'll go on the back. I'll test fit them to the front and let you know if they work there too.

They're monroe MA730 's. What sort had you purchased that wouldn't turn?

Cheaper than air shocks.

I ran air shocks on my first Waggy back in the 80s. It is a cost effective way to manage loads and get 2-3" of lift when you want it. I found that the Gabriel HighJackers would not work in the front because the can or dust cover was too big in diameter to clear the shock tower. I succesfully ran another brand (forget which one it was) in the front that had exposed airbags and were smaller in diameter. They were the same part number as used for the back. I know that the FSJ fronts typically use a little longer shock than the back but it worked fine for my application.

AAL are cheap but then factor in tearing the spring packs apart and putting them back together to complete the AAL install. Krista and I have done this and it is a pretty full day rebuilding 4 spring packs at a friend's place that had air tools. Air shocks take much less time and effort to install.

AAL is not cheaper if you also needed shocks anyway

so I got the monroes. they don't rotate 90 degrees, so they're not going to work in the front. I'm not completely disappointed though, they worked great in the back. perked the ol' wagoneer right up. might not even bother trying to find some for the front unless somebody wants to chime in because they know of something that definitely works. For $60 & 45 minutes work I'm tickled.

So there are air shocks that will fit on my 90 GW in the rear. It sags a tiny bit, evenmore with a pop up camper back there.
