My FSJ is a flipping HOT ROD (for the weekend)

As part of the build I had 4.56 gears installed. Got the truck back today and the plan was to take it to the tire shop for the 35X12.5. Well, the tire shop messed up. They actually called me to ask if I had swapped axles in the Jeep. Even after looking at it, talking to me, going through the catalogs, etc etc etc they were sure I had a 5 bolt pattern.

LOSERS

Anyways. So, for the weekend I am running 4.56 gears and some pretty worn 31" BFG tires (probably close to 29" now). Can you say 'fast off the line????' I can. LOL

it hauls butt. I have a 401 and a truck avenger. It's not as fast as my Cleveland powered mustang but it has some get up and go!

LOL... enjoy it while it lasts!

I sold my extra wide track axles to a guy who drove 5 hours to pick them up for his CJ5... he was almost in tears when he saw the six lug hubs. Since he paid $350 for the axles I threw in a set of stock turbines...

I already took a honda civic with some primered body panels, a big spoiler and a gigantic muffler. I ran up to about 60 and then obviously let off the throttle, he blew by me but I get the feeling he was a little... how do you say... frustrated!

I had a friend that worked for AMC in the '70's and was a hobbyist drag racer. He told me a story about going to an event at Milan Dragway one weekend, planning to just be a spectator. He was driving his company car from AMC which was a 401 powered Quadratrac '78 Cherokee Chief.

The event ended up being a sort of "run what 'ya brung" kind of the thing and there was just one admission price whether you were running or just watching, so he decided to give the Chief a few passes on the track, just for grins. Keep in mind he was an experienced drag racer, so he new how to launch a vehicle.

He was relating this to me some 20 years after it happend, and I asked, "So, what'd it run?"

He said, "To tell you the truth, all I remember was that nobody could touch my 60 ft. times!".
