Need some help here!

So I was in a pinch, needed to move my jeep or have it towed after I blew out my radiator.

I found a radiator that was about 1" longer from top to bottom that would mount up and everything else but the problem is, I didn't have the extra inch needed to fit it because it hits on my steering gear. I've been trying to think of a way to lower the steering gear, but couldn't come up with anything, Now I have the idea of throwing a body lift on it.

Do you guys think throwing a 2" body lift on the jeep will work to get me the clearance and be worth it. It'll be cheaper than buying a new radiator or having my new one modified.

Your rad mount is mounted to the frame so lifting the body won't raise the radiator any you'll just gain clearance at the top. You may also have issues with shift linkage being too short, steering column relocation, extending the fuel fuller tube etc. Be easier, cheaper and better to just get the correct rad than reworking the entire vehicle to fit around a cheap used radiator

Couldn't find a cheap used radiator, had to find an expensive new one that had to be modified on to my old mounts.

Fact of the matter is, I want to do a body lift on the waggy, and a new radiator will cost more than a body lift.

Since the rad mount is on the frame, I would just need to redrill my mounts so I could move the rad up 1" to clear the steering gear. Then I could also go a couple inches bigger on my tires as well with no concerns since I dont really plan on off roading my rig just more of a DD and occasional play rig. Body too strait for wheelin.

don't the rad set in the rad support that has a rubber spacing between the frame and support. On the body lift that someone did on my J truck they put it under the support also which raised the rad also.

Even if that is true, my steering gear that I'm hitting on is mouned to the frame and wont be raised with the lift, which would allow me to be able to adjust the radiator's height to accommodate.

That the way I see it. Steering box stay on frame and the body is lifted up should give you room.
