Trouble starting in HOT WEATHER

My 87 GW, 2150/360 starts perfect every morning. But every afternoon when I step out of the hanger to go home it takes a while to start. Sometimes it spits and moans and throws smoke out the air cleaner. Why is it only doing it in the afternoons? The carb is rebuilt 2 months ago and was fine till it started geting warmer weather (outside).

Check your choke setting it may be set too tight (rich) causing it to flood the engine. With the 80+* days we have been having (not sure where your temps are) I would think the butterfly should be open about 1/8" when the engine is cold.
