Burnout

Finally got the traction bars on so I could do a little burnout. The sweet exhaust noise is the car next to me. The Jeep's real quiet.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-esTc8_MWPA

And a couple racing videos from last time. First two are full exhaust and the last one is open headers. It's quicker with the exhaust. Reaction times were really bad because I was datalogging the runs and had to calibrate while the lights were coming down.

Very cool! My Jeep makes a lot of smoke too, but not from the tires...

that pic is really one of the best fsj photos out there... I am curious though: it looks like it's still 4wd so wouldn't you have a little better takoff in 4wd? I don't really know anything about drag racing...

no, it's 2wd. He and I both run the CJ-10a tug straight-tube front 2wd axle.

Greg, on the burnout did you do them in 1st, or did you start the tires spinning and then quickly shift to 2nd?

Put a 200hp nitrous kit on it and it will get into the 11's.

I'm back at home for the summer so I'm up for a little test drive any time. How's yours coming along?

Started in first until the tires broke loose then hit second and put the hammer down.

11's are the goal but not with a 200 shot.

My buddy Chris shot the burnout video with his camera and my brother shot the rest with his girlfriend's camera. Don't know much about either camera but they look fancy? I've got to get a good one sometime for myself.

Btw, Chris is the guy with the green '70 Dart in a couple of the vids.

Test and Tune nights or just not that many people showing up? Looks great are you running as a street rig also?

Both. The stands are usually pretty empty for the bracket nights also. With the economy in the crapper it's kind of hard for most people to justify paying $12 to watch test and tune or brackets. Heck, they had the thundernationals last night and the stands were only 1/2 full. They're already sold out of reserved seating for Pinks All Out though.

And yes, it's a street car. Hard compound radials, pump gas, and I drive it 60 miles round trip to the track with my bucket-o-tools in the back.
