If you had $1,000 to spend.......
On your FSJ, how would you spend it?
I'd buy,
Master cyl.
steering linkage parts,
New or good used tires and wheels,
waggy or cher seats and door panels,
front and rear bumpers,
winch of some sort,
4in. lift blocks for the front, (shackle flip in the rear)
and various other things I can't think of right now.

I don't have the $$$ for lift springs, lol. Actually, I may run some lift shackles that I have laying around, but I'm not sure yet.

I'd buy you 4" lift springs for the front so you don't run scary (and illegal) block up front. Hint on the illegal part.
I'd spend it on paint supplies for the 71.

I may take you up on that, lol.
I think I'm going to run the lift shackles I have laying around. They are approx. 30 years old and they look a lot stronger than the stock ones.

You could run some zero rate aal's up front. They come in 3/4" and 1" heights and bolt to the springs packs with the center pin. The side (ORD) that makes/sells them say they can go on the front. They are basically just a thick leaf spring.
Add those and a shackle and you could get a bit of lift. IIRC they are around $50 a pair.

NO BLOCKS on the front!!!
First of all, they're illegal.
Second of all, in stock configuration, they would LOWER your front end.
Did I mention, NO BLOCKS IN THE FRONT ?

Not on his 65. Stock SOA.
But yes, no blocks up front. I'm not even sure I would run the zero rate aal's. They are suppsoed to be safe to use up front (makes since as they are bolted to the spring pack like any other leaf). Edit. The u-bolts on a closed kuckle axle would hold them from twisting as well.

How much would the anti twist plates stiffen the springs? I have relatively good travel up front and I'd like to keep it that way.

Not at all. they are just little stamped thick sheet metal plates that sit between two leafs. All tey do is make it so the bottom overlaod leaf (that usually is not connected to the main pack by any means other then the center pin) can't twist out of alignment. Would work well for a zero rate as well.
But I deleted that after remembering that the stock u-bolts will hold that zero rate from twisting.

Picture the zero rate under the springpack. You can see the u-bolts would hold it in palce. You would have to make your own though (or notch the production ones) as they are not made for 2" wide springs. Very easy though. I made some 3/4"x2.5 zero rates for my cherokee.
