Clock question.
Anyone know the years they offered the Glovebox Clock, and just how rare they are. I have only seen one in person, which I just bought. I don't even know if it works. If it does, it gets installed. If not, it just gets to decorate my shop. The price was right.

Well, took it apart, blew the dust out, and it didn't work, Electrically, it functioned, but it would slowly come to a stop. Monkeyed around for a bit, and it still wouldn't work for long. Dabbed a little GooGone on the works, and it hasn't missed a tic since.

Happy you got it working. They were avalable at the start of the J-series. I have '63 sales brochures with them in the optional equipment list. I go to a lot of auto shows. The clock is at the top of the list of interior items that people comment on, especally after they notice it still works.

I've wondered how long they were available for...far cooler than the junk analog clock that goes to the right of the radio. (Although I still love having that one )
My J2000's glovebox has the rear cutout for the clock, so they came up until that year model at least..

I never liked those old dash clocks.as they were solenoid wound and had an internal set of points.the points would make contact, energize the soleniod and wind the clock .the spring would wind down and the cycle would repeat.if your clock has this type of mechanism, i would not drill a hole in my glove box to install it .thinking you will have a hole with a clock in it that would soon be non functional. my 2 cents.

Yeah, that's the one it is. Hard to say how reliable they are, but this one is working now, and I actually like the implicity of the design. Kind of ingenious for a winding mechanism. I wouldn't drill a hole in my glove box for it either. My 78 is in completely original condition, except for the carb, and a couple inches of lift. Stll has the radio delete panel, and has never had a radio installed. Have to figure out a way to add one, without it showing in any way. Maybe just my IPOD and an amp.
I have no problem whatsoever, painting an old glovebox door to match my interior, and bolting it in tho.
