My new favorite cleaner/degreaser

I got this off one of the dirt bike forums.

Get some liquid Tide detergent. Put one cap full into an empty spray bottle. Fill the rest with water (approx 2:1 water/tide ratio). Shake to mix.

Take that and spray whatever you need to clean. Engine, undercarriage, driveway, whatever. Do NOT wet it first, just spray on the detergent. Let it dry for 20 min or so. Yes, let it dry onto the surface. Next, take your garden hose and spray it off.

Let me tell you that this works amazingly well. I had mud caked onto the undercarriage of my CJ. The hose got most of it, but there were still those stubborn places where it would not come off. So I used the Tide method. Not only did it take off the mud, but it also took off all the grease and grime and road dirt too. And, you know how when you clean off mud it always seems to leave a stain? This takes those stains off also!

I tried it on my soft top - it took all the mud stains off of it. The body also. Then I tried it on some old oil stains on the driveway. First shot took most of the stain away, then I applied it a second time and let it sit for a few minutes then agitated it with a brush and it really cleaned up those spots well.

Give it a shot. This works better than most specialty or industrial cleaners that I have tried. Plus it is less expensive and it smells good.

You should try Tide and water in a turkey fryer for small parts. Heat the water to almost a boil and let the parts cook for hour or so. Now that I think about it, I think we put some Cascade dishwashing detergent in there as well. Anyhow, it will clean some parts.

Just be advised that if you by chance happen to Wax your vehicle that dishwashing detergent will also strip the wax off.

DW as we call it, works very well because it has enzymes or catalyst that accelerate the degradation process, it degrades your skin too.... so be careful and wear gloves.

Thanks for the Tide tip.

I typically use Spray N Wash in the spray bottle to clean my engine.

Another Simple Green fan here....! Ive seen simple Green take stuff off that a power washer couldn't remove. Spent alot of time in my younger years removing mud , ground in dirt, oil and grime from motocross riding with the stuff. Used it to totally degrease my 69 Coronet, works better than the normal engine degreaser in the can.

Try "SuperClean" or "Purple Power". Both the same stuff, SuperClean is the Castrol brand, PurplePower is the generic.

Spray it on, let it sit, hose it off. And its bio-degradable.

GSMikie turned me on to it. Great for cleaning greasy t-400 cases.

Another vote for Purple Power here - CHEAP!!!!

Cut thru 16 years of grease like nothing on my 4l80e - just spray it on, grab a beer, sip on the beer for a bit, pressure wash, spray again, finish beer, then scrub off with the garden hose and a brush - pics later.
