So I might as well just quit going to junkyards

Because I won the lotto today. Buddy told me there was a Wagoneer in the yard in the next town over and I finally made it there today. Turned out to be a 1980 Cherokee but I got almost everything I've been looking for.

Pair of front fenders. The nicest I've ever owned. Straight and solid.
Scuff plates. Without scuffs, near mint. Get to call BJ's and cancel that months-long backorder.
    Edelbrock Performer intake
Coolant overflow tank in nice condition
Washer fluid tank in nice condition.
    Distributor
    Instrument cluster
    Vacuum ball
    Misc interior trim (in blue!)
    Power steering pump cap
Plastic trim piece that goes around the "step up" area around the rear seat. I've never seen/heard of one of these before? But now I have one. And it's blue. Super score.

Brought all the parts up to the counter and they started adding them all up. $163. Then they said screw it, $100 if you've got cash. SCORE!
Yep, I know my PM box is full. Email me instead.

With the front fenders in the condition you say they are, it couldn't have been on the roads in winter up here.

Oh, it was for sure. The thing looked great on the outside. Just a little rust at the bottom of the rear fenders. Everything underneath, GONE. Weirdest rust out I've ever seen. Looked like a southern sun baked truck on the outside, michigan rot bucket everywhere else.

Some one must have only washed what they could see. Score of the century north of the mason Dixon sounds like.

If you can't make it better why waste your time. No use repeating the orignal mistakes. I'm to old to push it that's why.

Oh, forgot to mention. I left a Rhino grille on the fence behind the truck because it was too rough to buy. It's bent up and missing one bar. Still attached to an early valence panel. If someone wants it, the junkyard is Weller on Chicago Drive in Grand Rapids.

The best I ever did was a mid 70's wagoneer that had already been picked over. They got the intake too. I thought, why would they grab the two barrel intake? I crawled under and yup, 401 cast onto the block. Pulled the engine for $185. Standard bore and the crank needs to be turned.

You guys should come out to Billings sometime. The junkyard I go to has an entire row of various FSJs.

What junk yards? I go to Billings about once a month. I'm in northern MT where there are no junk yards, only pastures with junk, lol.

I still go about every weekend looking to score. I can't complain. I scored an entire front clip off a 79 golden eagle (with original paint) once. Had my other lucky finds too. I am envious of your blue interior find. I have one of those plastic covers for the rear seat perch. I pulled mine from a 77 wag at the yard. mine is tan. I'd love to have blue, since my interior is blue. I'm also still searching for a blue or black glove box pull and some blue coat hooks. What years came with that plastic cover anyways?

Sometimes I wonder if I like scavenging for parts better than wrenching.
