    Bolt and stud source??

New to my son. First off is a water pump and floor replacement. I have found that is is a giant pleasure to remove items off of an engine that is all original and never been touched . It appears all items are original and only have 33 years of natures Rust-tite on all fasteners. Only broke 3 bolt during waterpump removal. To finish removing broken studs, the timing chain cover had to be removed.....JOY JOY JOY as ya'll know when the bolts have oxidized themselves to the aluminum housing.
    T
The stud/bolt that secure the timing cover and provide an anchor point for the PS bracket (under the box end)is one of the frozen studs that broke. Who has been the trusted supplier for such automotive bolts??
I need to replace all of them as some are stretched and others are a bit slim thru the shank. What is the description of the dual threaded stud/bolt?

That is a special purpose bolt, and I've never seen one at large. I'd get a threaded rod and two nuts & some washers. Cut the rod to length to match the original. When reassembling, screw the rod in as tight as you can, then put a washer & nut on and tighten up against the water pump. You'll have extra length of rod still sticking out past the first bolt for the PS pump bracket to fasten to with another bolt & washer.

A machine shop that takes walk in jobs should be able to help you out if you need a specialty fastener made.

I'd source it through a local screw/fastener joint, they'll have the knowledge and you won't have to go wading through all the inventory yourself.

Thats why I was hoping for a known description

Thank you everybody, wasn't sure if there was a hidden sponsor that had an accessory bolt KIT per say. I've got an e-mail into ARP checking on such a mythical monster for the AMC. If I get good news, I will pass it on.

                Again, thank you!!

Here in Portland we have a Parkrose hardware store that has more types of fastners than I've ever seen in one location. Stuff I can't even find on the internet. I know I've seen studs with different threads on each end there. Let me know if you have something you really can't find and I'll give em a look the next time I go.

You can always source another one at a wrecking yard. That stud is pretty common with AMC V8's. If all else fails, cobble one up or have a machine shop make one.
A trick someone told me to combat the aluminum oxidation is paint the bolt part that sleeves through the aluminum cover and use anti-seize on bolts that thread into aluminum.

Not sure if they have a Fastenal there, but you might try that. They sell in bulk though I believe. Otherwise, Dorman should make an exhaust stud that would work as well. Find an auto parts store that still has the orange Dorman bins, or someone knowledgeable enough to know what you need, but you'll need the dimensions first. Looks to me like a 5/16-24 stud. Something like this may work. Only problem being the gap in the middle. Otherwise, like what was mentioned Allthread will work.
                        Double Ended Stud - 5/16-18 x 7/16 and 5/16-24 x 5/8 Overall length of 1-1/4

Thanx for the ideas. I tried some hole-in-the-wall joints and found 2 that I needed. Went to a Jeep wrecking yard and every canidated had the engine removed. Threw the hood on the last one, no engine . BUT... all the front bolts were lying in the old air cleaner . Like they knew I was coming. Was hoping for new bolts but I've learned not to be too pickey.
