Once again Royal ulpholstery comes to the rescue. I called yesterday to ask about binding the carpet to make it look better. They said bring it down. A 2 hour drive each way I got there and they said come back in 45 minutes. They know I am not local and had just finished a big job for someone and had the time to get after it. I found a sporting goods store to wander through for a while and went back to pick it up. It looks just great.
I keep thinking this is the last time I am installing what ever it is I am currently installing. I kjeep getting corrected when it comes out again. I think this is it for the carpet. At least I hope so.

On the floor marked and ready to go. This camera sure takes poor quality pictures. It will have to do for now.

As soon as I got home I put it in.

    Before

    After binding

    Way better.

I saw the paint inspector showed up. I guess it passed as he gave two antenna up.
Maybe he looking for a spot to leave his mark. Typical bug for ya...

I have already started trying to finalize the front seat cover. SMS (in Canby Oregon) really did a lousy job. I will put it outside in the heat and probably pull the springs in some with some temporary straps to get the darn thing on. I will get it. Just a small learning curve.

    More soon.

Looks really good. Something to keep in mind to have done with my interior when the it's time.

So wucha got going for that vertical bit under the rear seat. I don't recall if you've addressed it yet.

I seem to recall a separate piece there on my '84 but it's been a couple years since I removed it.

Thanks guys. I am so close... There is a car show down in town next weekend. I am kind of considering it. And yes steely eye, I am eyeballing my 69 X model every time I walk past it. I really want to drive it again.

The replacement master cylinder showed up. I will get it clear coated today with some satin clear so it stays looking like fresh cast.
And yesterday my wife and I did some wrestling, with sadies front seat cover. It was a bear. But rather than go on and on about what a lousy company SMS auto fabrics (from Canby Oregon) is and what they did wrong, I will focus on keeping it positive. The seat cover went on in full sun, with some much needed heat and increased flexibility. There are some wrinkles in the back panel and remember Royal fabrics in Spokane save the day by adding 4 inches in width so it would fit over the back. All in all it will do. This is the original pinstripe pattern from 1970.

The seat belt slots are about two inches to high. I will need to sew them shut and look for some black plastic slotted grommets. Then cut and glue them in in the correct location. I know they are made, I just need to find them.

The rear seat is also 98% done. I will put them in shortly.

That is just about perfect for what I am looking for! Painted black on the aluminum ones though. It would not take much to remove the hog rings under the back and get in behind with some type of backing for support. Wow, super!

The 53 sold. It was a cool totally complete stock wagon. It has a good new home and my plate just got a little clearer.

Thanks to bkilby I was inspired to look for seat belt guides till I found some that would look possibly original. Bingo.... Porsche seat parts..... Bills wagoneer just became even more valuable...

I have a small problem and need to get a request for a part posted. I will also put a post in the wanted section.

I have no idea how I ended up with two drivers side back seat latch parts. I pulled them out of a ziploc bag that I put them in years ago when I took Sadie apart. I don't have any of these and the beater 70 outside does not have them.

I need the passenger side part.

This is the correct drivers side. Note how the bracket wraps around the seat frame to the back of the seat.

The wrong part. This is the passenger side. The bracket digs into the side of the seat back. It should wrap around the back like the drivers side above.

Another view of the wrong part.

Anybody have the passenger side bracket? I could really use one.

You sure there're supposed to be two different parts?

Maybe the same part mounts upside down on one side so the screw hole is higher on one side than the other or maybe the latch itself is at a different height?

That occured to me late last night. I will go check that today. I am pretty sure it is the wrong bracket.
