hinges with problems and problems with hinges

putting doors and hinges back on 76 j10,...
had a buddy of mine take the hinges and bead blast them
    when they dismantled the truck,...
then he put new pins/bushings in for me

one set was stiffer than the other
we thought it may be the passenger hinges that were not as loose
since not used as much as driver door.....

my buddy also noted/found that two wierd looking pieces fell out of the hinge or hinges, they are 1.25" long x 5/8" wide
and 1/8" thick and they have a "V" Shaped notch in each end,...
due to ignorance,.....we did not put them back in, I still have them.

now,....body shop is re installing doors, he says pass door shuts/latches
and is kinda free swinging, no binding

    the driver door, however
will not shut, when it gets to about 4 or 5 inches from shutting it is really stiff
and seems it would have to be man handled to make shut.

is there any advice from someone who has dons this ?
are all hinges same ?, could we have them mis matched, etc etc....

if I could buy hinges and solve the problem I would, but don't recall seeing any new hinges for sale.
the pass door is so close at top pf frame
I am not going to be able to install bright trim scalp moulding, but that was an issue before taking truck apart
( the original bright trim at top of frame was torn from where it had been hitting )

    any help appreciated......

Does the hinge look like this? Also it is hard for me and possibly others to understand what you are describing. I put new bushings in my front door hinges. When I pulled the pin out, it separated into two pieces. I did not see any other parts. I know you have trouble posting pics, but that would be a big help when asking questions. Good luck.

SOLSAKS, after re-reading your post, maybe something is bent and the extra pieces were some sort of shim. What if you swapped the hinges from the door that works fine to the door that won't shut. If that fixes it, you can get a used hinge in good shape to fix the problem. Unfortunately A lot of times you may have to put something together A few times to figure out a problem and get it right. Ask me how I know, good luck.

ah caveman fsj454 knows what I am talking about

although I appreciate full size jeepers help too

yes the guide blocks that fell out
have marks on them from years of movement

one side has straight abrasion lines
the other half moon or arched abrasion lines
from the movement of the hinge

there are 2 NOS that are for sale for 70 bucks
I can see the guide blocks in the NOS set

          I will snag those
          bet that is the problem

            to be sure
did the hinge design ever change on j10 trucks ?

I know jeep started using round head star bolts later on

but hope the hinge design never changed

P.S. and I assume j-10 trucks and wagoners used same hinge.

            thanx dave

                fsj454,...

can you confirm hinge design never changed

I bought the set on eBay for 70 dollars

                it says 84-91 wag hinges

but I got them anyway cause they look the same

please advise if you think I messed up by getting them

if so I have wasted 70 dollars before.

                    They will work

Yes they will be fine grease good on the guide blocks before you install. They are all the same in my venture on sagging doors

already bought the NOS set on eBay

then I tell the body shop they are on the way

and they say they think the prob is fixed

so now I got an NOS set for spares on the way.

*some say their hinges have no guide blocks

and are functioning ok, so it is a mystery to me,....

                      but most things are.

I thought those plastical blocks are what hold the doors open. If so they wouldn't be required for proper funcfuncfunctioning.
