North East J10 in the makes!

Hello IFSJA crew! new to the forum but not a green horn when it comes to jeeps, I've owned several Cherokees and always loved them but when I saw this beast sitting in a field in my hometown something in my gut told me to jump on it. id like to tell ya exactly what I got but to be honest with you I'm not quite sure, I've heard many different things about this ol' girl by people who have had a hand in it back in the day but I'm not sure what I can believe based off some tinkering I've done, although I'm not too good of a mechanic (carpentry's more my style) but nonetheless I'm told I have an 82 j10 town side (verified off vin) with a 70-74 AMC V-8 (which is supposedly stroked & bored, cammed out and was newly rebuilt) with only 700 miles on rebuild. got 4 inch or so body lift on it with new drivetrain, ujoints, and tires (although they were wicked dry rotted, ended up switching them out ) ive started doing a little work ill post if you all would like but whacha think of it? pretty sweet for a 35 year old truck in the north

and just for fun

Looks like a great start. The fenders and bed look clean. Check your floorboards!
I would quickly look to change out the 4" body lift for a spring lift, but i am not a fan of body lifts.
Is your coil mounted on the fender, or does it have an MSD ignition? The MSD and motocraft distributor did wonders for my 77.

Already pulled the inside of the cab, ill snap a better pick for yall, driver sides got a pretty decent hole in it so she'll need a little patching once the warm weather comes around, and coils mounted to fender ill shoot a pic of that too in an hour or so. whadya think of the distributor? everyone who looks at it says its an old school delco points, some say go to hei others say the engine should be just fine without it. I've had it running before but I messed with the carb a bit and now she wont go. great looking rig btw!

Nice find! I'm surprised it doesn't have a lot more rust. Looks like a great project.

Did somebody say more rust??

Frame looks pretty good, black is after I peeled a little of the frame coating off

Not sure what these things look like down south but this is pretty nice for a old truck.

Have you poked your head up under the block to see what engine you "have"? I put it in " " because it may have started life as a 360 (which would be cast into the block, just behind the motor mount) but with no idea what's inside, you can't really be sure. It would be nice to know though!
