what would you most like in a custom dashboard

just did as much as possible to my dash until i place the steering wheel column and decide on my electronics. If you could put anything you wanted in your dash what would it be?

Yes i love the spider web gussets from DIY

as you can see ive got alot of room to place anything where i want. im thinking 2 rows of 5 switchs across the top middle plate for lights, starter button and such, and placing a garmin GPS in the middle of the driver side plate instead of a speedometer. other then that what else would you add to a family trip taken 4X4?

Might check with a marine supply place they have some nice simple switch panels avail. Petty basic: the toggles, function label plates, idiot lights for when ON. Nothing you can't build yourself but you may get some ideas. I personally like round analog gauges and simple toggle controls. No fluff ambient air thermometers, biorhythm sensors, vanity mirror lighting etc. You've got a great op here once you decide what you want/need. Make it functional but keep it clean and simple. Look at boat set ups, race cars, aircraft set ups and even luxo poof car set ups for ideas.

Im interested in what you do with your dash as well. Im using some switches from Western Star - the big trucks - as they look very industrial and simple.

I will try to take some pictures today so that you can see them. Looking forward to see where you go with your dash.

I think you should go in this direction:

Oooo. I like where you're going with this, BUT! it's hard to tell from the pictures. Any plans to be able to remove that transmission hump cover? Ever?

So far as what to put where, well my only gripe with my waggy's setup is how hard to reach everything can be when you need to keep your eyes on the road. If you're keeping the radio, I'd relocate it someplace more easily reached. Well for that matter any accessory that you can see yourself fiddling with while driving, keep well within reach of yourself, but still within the grasp of the passenger.
