Turkey bay OHV Ky.... weekend of Sept 30

Friend and I are headed to Turkey Bay weekend of Sept.30 for some camping and to check out the trails......if I can get my heap ready by then.
(this does assume they are open, currently closed due to storm damage. Should think it will be ok by then but???)

We will be there either way, just not 100% yet on my Jeep. Few minor things and one major leak to get fixed before then. Just light wheeling, nothing too harsh yet, as my rig is not even close to ready for the hard stuff yet.

He may have a Jeep of some type by then as well (I'm pushing FSJ, but he's leaning CJ7).

Anyway, thought it might be a chance to meet up with a few members if anyone is up for it.

As of now we plan to arrive late Thursday, and stay till some time Monday.

Chime in if you might come for a night or two, or just swing by for a hour or so.

      Yep, thats the one.

Never been there myself, but have heard about it from others.
Trails are supposed to be mild, but nice scenery. Many different camp sites.

EDIT: Pics didn't show here, but the links work. I'll see if I can fix it later, it's late.
So, back from the trip. Nice place, but definitely aimed more at Razors and such. Lots of hill climbs, tight trails, and tree limbs to scratch up paint. Definitely not for those who dont want to scratch, and possibly dent their rig.

That said, it was a fun shake-down run.

Things learned on my shakedown run...................

          The good,
she ran good, better the more we drove.
The off road mods on the Edelbrock do work, no issues other than whats listed below
Went everywhere I tried........... up hill/down hill, tilted, even played in the "Rock Garden"
Mods to suspension flexes good for my needs.............with one snag below..........
Rear bump stop "Cans" are mounted solid ......again, more below

New wiring and motor on winch work good as well.

          The bad..........
customized sending unit (VDO gauge dont match stock)failed right off the trailer.....and resulted in about a mile walk to camp for the gas can I dont have a spot for yet. We where on our way back for that reason, just not soon enough. OOps.
VAPOR LOCKED....TWICE. Its fine as long as you dont shut it off and go to fire it back up for an hour or so. Will be fine as soon as I get the TBI in.
Fire it up with a bit of starting fluid and its fine.

Rear suspension mods (F150 springs+ shackle flip in sig) flex, but WAY soft.

Custom rear bump-stops need swapped for something a bit softer, they have no give when they hit.

Blew something in the drivers rear brake last evening there. Haven't opened it up yet too see whats wrong yet.

Thats about it.............am I forgetting anything?

          Oh, you want pictures?

          Well..........I guess
View of KY lake on the outer trail

          which way?

playing in the rock garden, bump-stops are nearly perfect for 37"s
          .......no flex here.....move along

Couple of young Army boys had a bad evening the night before

Yep, that washout is a bit deep for a stock Wrangler

Surprisingly for how hard it was sitting on its side, the damage was almost all plastic

The picture really does not do this hill justice, and its one of the "tame" ones. No way you would go up this on foot...........or on all fours. Steep, loose, and tilted to the passenger side.

Sorry I didnt get more pics, I was a bit busy driving and having fun. Most where taken by my navigator.

I'll have to remember to view the pics when I get home. Work has blocked a lot of the pics on the net.. Glad it worked for you.
