    International Harvester 360?

A Grand Wagoneer offered to me for sale reportedly has an International Harvester "5.9L."

    Is that possible?

My understanding is that some IH trucks had AMC 401s, not 360s.

Seller is mistaken, IH V8's that are most common are 304, 345, and 392 that were available in their pickups, scouts, and travelalls. Not sure of the years offered. Jeep offered the AMC 258 six and the 360 in the later models of Wagoneers.

IH did have an inline six that was a 361.

Seller probably has no idea what they're talking about, but if the price is right and the Jeep is nice, maybe you can negotiate a better deal.

Ignorant sellers tend to be one of two kinds:

        1. Saps who don't know what they have and let it go for cheap.

        2. Jerks who think it's worth way more than it really is and give you a hard time.

I love how arguements end as soon as Ristow comments. Ristow is right...again.

It's possible it was rebuilt by an IH shop. I had one done at a Cat tractor shop.
Jeep gauges are for amusement only. Any correlation between them and reality is purely coincidental.
