    Front Winch Bumper

Beside the custom units from BJ's Offroad and something I could build (cobble) together myself, what other options do I have for a front mounted Winch Bumper?

Hasn't Warn stopped building their unit for a FSJ?

    Comments? Suggestions?

Used is your only option on the Warn bumper and custom is the only other way. There are hidden winch mounts floating around and Baybilly was working on repoping them or something along those lines. I think they ended up being too expensive and time consuming to produce or something along those lines.

Who else besides BJ's produces a custom winch bumper?

Any fab shop near you could build you one. I know there are a few in MI that would do it. JCR Offroad might build you one. I think they are in K-Zoo or near there. The rear swing out on my '89 is built by Ironman Offroad in Bay City.

Can you point me to some photos of the rear swing out? How much did it run you?

I don't know what the frame width is on a TJ or YJ, but for $210 these look pretty cool.

Nice. Looks just like the same as the cliffhanger on BJ's off road, except a little deeper.

Surprised the Staties don't pull you over on i-75 for an obstructed license plate.

I avoid 75 at all cost. And i've only driven down the road a few miles with it on and there isn't a license plate at all right now. I transferred that plate over to the '83 I have for sale since there wasn't a powertrain in it when I took those pics.

I know I have said this for the last three or four years Brian but I am planning to build a bumper and install it on the J20 I am currently doing. I think it's really going to happen this time, sometime in the spring of 2012.

This bumper is a three-piece design that is loosely styled after the original FSJ bumper but is more robust with a winch mount, D-rings and a grille/radiator guard that will be made later. There are no flat surfaces, the entire bumper is formed from 3/16" steel.

Let me know if you are interested in having one. I will see if I can work one in for you (no promise) while I have this operation set up in the shop. I have been known to be nice to people who are nice to our planet or FSJ's.

Buddy here in AZ built this one for me.

here is a link to some more pics and also, inside that thread, is a link to his build. To someone with skillz this sounds like it is pretty straight forward.

Well, my friend and wheel'n buddy Bob was gracious enough to put together some custom bumpers and a roll bar for the Jeep. I wanted the bumpers tight, since I park the jeep inside a small garage. I was also looking for something that would not destroy the approach and departure angles and had a custom but stock look to them.
