door jamb switches and wiring

NEED ADVICE
76 HONCHO
was completely taken apart

now back together
I got it back from paint shop and realized

there are no door jamb switches present
or any of the wiring

I think I remember they were missing when I got the truck
( one detail I forgot to take care of during restoration )

the dome lamp, cargo light and switch were missing too

Now,...I do have a factory dome light base with wiring
a cargo light switch and an OEM cargo light

should we just start from scratch
or is it possible someone has the other part of wiring needed that may plug into original harness

P.S.
missing the courtesy under dash lighting fixtures and wiring too.

thanx for any help offered

You have all the hard to get parts. The Cargo switch and Cargo light base are hard to find. You can get a complete cargo light chrome insert and Lense from Super Brite LED for $23.00 part # RDL-w10. The under dash lights may be the same as a Jeep CJ?? The interior dome light is the same as early Chevy trucks 1960- 66. You can pick one up from LMC complete for $23.00. The door switches may be the same as an early Chevy Nova/Camaro grounding switch, depends on what size hole is in the door. LMC also sells a kit with courtesy lights and the switches.

Dave, You are killing me! I want to see this truck SOOOooooooooooo bad! You are getting so close!!!

I think there were 2 different door switches over the years but I am not sure which is which. I know bkilby's 74 Cherokees switches look very different from the ones in my 79. His snap into place (like the ones I link to below), while mine are threaded and held in place by a nut (like the other ones I link to below).

The ones on bkilby's look alot like the ones I had on a Falcon. If I were in your shoes (I had no switches or wiring), I would measure the hole and see if one of these will fit in there:
3/4 inch hole switches
7/8 inch hole
NPD also sells a replacement harness for them you could use for connectors, etc.

Mine look more like this:
Later model, smaller hole

For the under dash lights, Jeep used them all the way up until the mid 90's under XJ, MJ, and YJ dashes. I assume some the AMC cars had them too but have never looked. The part numbers changed over the years because the pig tail changed but since you don't have the wiring, it does not matter to you. You can either clip the wrong connector and put the right one on, or just use a different connector that you like. If you watch fleabay the underdash lights show up often. Just search "XJ Underdash Light" or "YJ Underdash light". I have seen them show up cheaper than these 2 but these are just examples.
One from an XJ
one from a YJ
The covers are the expensive part. Often times they turned brown and cracked which means, when you find the light the covers are probably missing or really expensive. I don't have covers on mine because I like the brighter light of an open bulb (and mine were brown and cracked ).
