Thinking about getting back in a FSJ

I stumbled across a 1974 Cherokee Monday and thinking about buying it, only problem is I recently bought a CJ8 that’s a full restoration and one that I’ll be keeping. So weighing out the Cherokee. On the door jam tag sept 1973 production date, factory 360, Hydra-Matic 400, S model. I’d say interior is a 7, it’s been repainted at some point but original (ish) color. Body is straight as an arrow. So the decisions begin. Mississippi Jeep, old man said he used it to pull his race car

Can anyone help me out with the build tag?

Cherokee Envy

Cherokee is the next one I want. Gotta finish the Chevelle and the GW first.

They are super fun! Have a plan before you buy, though. Keep it stock, warm it up a little, trail rig, etc. values on these are starting to go up so parts are getting a little bit more expensive, too. Not ridiculous yet but they are not as dirt cheap as they were 5 years ago.

Places to check for rust and bondo on a narrow track Cherokee are
Behind the rear tires
Under the doors
The doors
The drip rail seam
The windshield pillars
And under the driver and passenger feet.

I am not sure if there is a PDF of the original color sheets (I have some from later years), but you can search around online for details. Here are a few worthwhile links for at least exterior:

Try other searches for 1974 Jeep paint and interior codes and see what's closest to what you're looking at.
