Tailgate lowering

I just got a new to me 82 Cherokee project. I am in the process of assessing what I have. I need to lower the power tailgate window. Neither switch works and the wiring is suspect. Is there a connector or location that I can put power to the motor and see if it works before I crawl in and disassemble thru the access opening?

You can put power to wires underneath @ frame harness connector.
However, if the safety switch isn't working it still won't work.

The easiest way is to remove the access cover and just put power to the motor.
You can try to bypass the safety switch and test function before trying direct to motor power.

Sometimes all that is needed is to push hard on the left upper corner of the tailgate to close the safety switch portion of the circuit. I would try this 1st.
