    Front springs

I will be in the market for some new front springs soon and I am wondering if I should get another stock set or if there is something better I should consider?
The thing has got some rake going on and I would not mind it being not as severe as it is... This will be partly remedied by non saggy springs but an extra inch of lift would definitely not hurt me... What are my options? Chevy maybe?

Why go stock when you can get an extra 2"s for basically the same price?

If you are gonna replace the fronts you should highly consider doing all 4. The new will be stiffer and the wont flex the same as the old ones.

Yeah... I will definitely do the 2in lift if I don't go some other way altogether.

Tigger4x: they are already off different vehicles so it will be nothing new... Back ones are in pretty good shape.

Sounds interesting... 2in of wheelbase would help my driveshaft angle and approach angle.

I will need a new front driveshaft but thats ok as the current one sucks... The length is the same so they bolt right up? Looks like they are about $150 ea... Sound about right?

My suggestion would be to go custom. I have Alcan springs front and rear. The reason I say this is that the pack needs to be designed to take the forces SOA puts on them. The stock packs, although rediculously soft, turn into 'S's real quick and eventually sag and break. Alcan builds them with the second spring going all the way under the main eye with the third closly to it too. This has helped prevent the springs from turning into S's on mine for over 7 years now with some pretty hard wheeling on them. Best springs I have seen for SOA.

I'll be interested in checking this out in 'Cruces Thursday.
I'd love the extra room and drive shaft angle, my concern is that it may move the tie rod under the drag link (or maybe I am picturing it wrong?).

A little too rich for my blood... $150 is about all I'd be willing to spend and I'd really like to find something a bit cheaper.

                        I retract this comment...

I didnt realize that you were already SOA with 3/4 ton axles and 33"s...

If you are having trouble stuffing your tires, then just trim.

If you need more ground clearance find some bigger tires.

                        I vote for stock replacements...

My SOA is doing just as he says, and I haven't even wheel'd it hard. Now, my springs are stock originals with 240K miles...

If you can't cover the cost of customs, you might consider keeping your long spring, cut the ends off, and adding them to your pack. That will help with the 'S' problem.

Alcans are about $450 for a pair. If you break the eyes off of both main leafs in the big sluece (Rubicon) $450 seems pretty cheap.
