What did they give you for sealant? The glass shop that did mine used urethane which dries hard and then cracks and leaks. I had to redo it with the proper tar-like goo which stays, well, gooey.1973 Wagoneer, 4.6L Jeep inline 6 stroker, t176/d300, offy dualport w/ quadrajet, pertronix, flowmaster

I had mine done about 2 years ago by a local company. They had no problem installing mine. But they had an older guy that was used to doing older glass. He reused the existing rubber gasket since it was in good shape. He told me it was much better to use the stock rubber if it's in good shape because of ease of installation and the new stuff doesn't always fit quite right.

jogger froger
as you can tell , you are the new hero on the site
we have always heard the horror stories about the windshield installation
and most of all the shiny trim that goes on afterward.
you proved a point, nothing beats a good solid effort and determination.
your installation looks so dang good it looks like there is o glass in there at all.
A+++ Super job.
i am jealous....but glad for you at same time !!!

It comes in bead form on a roll. The bead diameter is too large to fit in the channel for the body flange so I stretch it until it is about 3/16"-1/4" in diameter.
I have butyl in my shop that I know is more than thirty years old and it still looks and feels new. I have used this on several FSJ windshields and have never had a leak. It will stick to most dry surfaces very well.FSJ Hybrid build thread: http://www.shopfloortalk.com/forums/...ad.php?t=43332

SOLSAKS,
I felt like a hero putting the glass in in under 40 min. What you don't see in the video is me fighting the trim for 3 hours. I felt like a dunce at that point. Soapy water and 14 gauge coated automotive wire saved the day. If I had to do it all over again, I bet I could do it all under an hour. Faster if I had a helper or 2nd set of hands.

Upper chrome trim
Your right, is 10 min to remove windshied and 20 min to mount it, super easy even if your are alone like me. The major difficult if you are alone is the upper chrome trim. The ideal that is if you have 3 hand :-)
My name is Dominique, my mother tongue is french, I own a restored white jeep full Size Cherokee chief 1978 - I really like the FSJ and I decided to engage my time to help you during your restoration, I rebuilt some older and unavailable parts for these. I do this after my main job. Currently I sell bumper nerfs stripe for 81-91 grand wagoneer and clear lens cover for 64-75.
