Interior Color Codes, Trim Codes and Build Sheets?

I have had no luck finding info on my 1979 Chief because the VIN number is too short to work in later data bases. Did I read that there is a resource that can identify Interior Trim Codes/ Color Combos?

I'd like to identify my interior combo so that I can match up the proper replacement parts like carpet, seat fabric, etc..

Let me know if its out there please.

    Thanks.

Paint and Trim codes are on the VIN plate, above the VIN.
We can help for the decoding

The correct VIN decoder is in the TSM, located here - http://oljeep.com/edge_parts_man.html ("1979 Full Technical Service Manual")
The TSM also shows you how to read the VIN plate. The paint codes are in the parts catalog as well as online various places, and the trim codes are in the parts catalog. As mentioned, we can help with these after you read them from the VIN plate and post up here.

A Cherokee (model 16 or 17) 7FQ is folding bucket seats, Beige Mojave Cloth.
J222322 is the sales order number. No additional meaning.
19 is an assembly line mark - no known meaning.
1700 is the model (17=WT Cherokee), redundant to VIN.

Beige Mojave Cloth - that's what I was looking for.

Now, to only find a drivers side folding bucket seat. That would be nice.

                Thanks Greese!

Can't help you without the year. You can look at the TSM to see which numbers are the trim and paint codes. None of the rest is meaningful.

You should buy the '74-80 parts book at RockAuto on CD-ROM for under $25, if your Jeep is in that year range. It will help you with this and many other things.

My quick sample of that shows it's missing the drawings. That's a lot to give up considering the CD-ROM is less than $25.

The '76 TSM is there, and will help you to interpret your VIN plate. One year off, but the VIN plate is similar. Your transcription does not fit the pattern very well - maybe you could look at the picture for the VIN plate and determine the paint and trim codes. I'm guessing 483 and 559 resp.
