They don't know what they are talking about. There wasn't a J30. You can find mistakes in original Jeep parts lists for stuff that didn't exist also.

Nobody cared what it was really

There is screwy stuff listed in the old books from NAPA and other places too... Then, try and get solid info on the stuff that really did exist like the part numbers for the pinion with the different offset that was only used in the Jeep Gladiator D70. The only guy I knew who had that and a contact at Spicer has passed on.

What I think is funny about newer vehicle is they under rate the frame and axles when Jeeps, Willys to the J-truck, was carrying extremely heavy weight for years. It's not a surprise they called it a "J30" to show it at the level of the Chevy and Ford 1-ton single wheels. Just a thought.

There isn't any Jeep documentation of a J30, the only mention of one is in parts lists from vendors who have incorrect information such as the link above. Now, if there was something to show that VAM listed the truck we've seen in these pics as a J30 that would explain a lot but there isn't any proof of that yet.

Even when I'm in Mexico, I have just a little info about the models produced by VAM.
It is said that some J20 came with a rear D70, but they are still called J20.
The truck in the images may have it, as it looks more or less the size of a D70 from a dually Chevy I use to work with.
But the ownwer didn´t know what axle is, and the picture doesn´t help.

IKA in Argentina didn´t make Wagoneers, just trucks, and the name of the models are a bit different, but not J3000 listed.... here are the production numbers:
              Gladiador X 4x2 1963 ? 1965 2.805
              Gladiador V 4x4 1963 ? 1965 5.552
              Gladiador X 4x4 1964 ? 1965 99
              Gladiador Super X 4x4 1965 ? 1967 500
              Gladiador Super X 4x2 1965 ? 1967 2.880
              Gladiador Super V 4x4 1965 2
              Gladiador Super V 4x2 1965 ? 1967 3.785
              Jeep T80 4x4 1967 ? 1971 326
              Jeep T80 4x2 1967 ? 1975 9.936
              Jeep T1000 4x2 Diesel 1970 ? 1978 1459
              Jeep T1000 4x2 1975 ? 1977 467

I was hoping you'd chime back in. If that rear axle is a D70 it will be stamped on the webbing to the passenger side of the back of the differential I believe.

Yes... my intention was to crawl under it to check it, but the day I took the pictures, there was a water puddle just in that spot... hehe... and as I was going to pick my daughter at school, I decided that the fsj history would have to wait...
Ironically... wearing my "work clothes" would allow me to do it!

I didn't read through the whole thread but I thought it was odd my local upullrparts.com shows a J10 and J30.
