    Throttle Cable

I got a quick question about the throttle cable on my j10. I bought a MC 2100 carb and bolted it on. I used the stock throttle cable. But even with my custom fabbed mount the cable is way to long. and the truckk idles way to high even after its warmed up. My question is for those of you who are using the MC 2100 what kind of throttle cable are you using??? Any help is wanted

    Thanks
    -Mike

I have the 2100 on 1985 manifolds. The original linkage is the same as the cast iron manifold though. I used the bellcrank for the original linkage and made a bracket to modify the 2100 so that the linkage pulls down, as on the original carburetor. I made a new link from the bellcrank to the carb using threaded ball-stud ends (available from Summit) and some all-thread.

(Old picture - it has a proper return spring now).

That's odd. The linkage on my '77 manifolds was nearly identical to the linkage for the '85 (CJ!) manifolds. I even used parts from a 258 Wrangler, and they were the same. Every BBD on a 258 that I've seen pulls down. Maybe yours was modified?

Yes mine was modified. I went for the direct pull option when i ordered the carb. i didnt like the pull down set up.

Sorry for the obvious reply, but have you contacted the seller of the carb?

I presume the problem is that the cable sheath fits into the cable bracket but the cable part does not stick out far enough to reach the carb. You might try a CJ cable - that's more likely the type of Jeep that the seller intended this for. There are both V8 and I6 CJs that use the same type of cable. If you are friendly with your parts store, they may let you look at a few different cables until you find one that fits. Barring that, you can buy a universal throttle cable made for hot rods and such .... Summit, Jegs etc.
