    help with Mallory ignition system

I have an 83 wagoneer with the 360, 650 edelbrock carb and intake, headers, cam etc. It has a Mallory hyfire 6a ignition control system installed. Doesn't that mean the the silver box screwed to the drivers side inner fender can be unpluged and the wires capped. This question is important because there was a slight engine fire and the coating on most of those wires is gone. Seems like the mallory module should take over the function of the stock box. I'm sorry I can't remember what it's called but I'm sure you know.

It is just called the ignition module. It is no longer needed with the Hy-Fire but I don't know how you have it wired.

If it is hooked up like figure #9, you should be able to do away with all the burnt wiring. If it is hooked up like figure #17, I think you have to leave your module in place to complete the circuit and make it all work.http://www.malloryperformance.com/pdf/6852M_6853M.pdf

      Disconnect it

You are correct--the stock EICU is not needed if you are running a Mallory or MSD unit. Disconnect the plugs and tape them over. There are three. Do the same thing on the other end where the wiring harness has the stock fittings that plug in near the distributor. The connectors are the same shape as those that plug into the stock or 3rd party EICU.

BTW, the fuel problem that started this thread was in fact that the floats were stuck. I pulled the top off the carb, cleaned them up and that solved the problem. Thanks guys.
