I need a 12 volt source to power the MSD box on and off such as an ignition switch. can I use the hot wire off the factory coil or one of the wires that connected to the factory distributor? I don't have my main cables in yet, so no way to hook up a battery yet, what wire would be best for that. Thanks in advance, Darin.

Thanks again BabyWag for the help, I will check for 12 volts at those wires once I get the battery in.1978 Wagoneer

I’m pretty sure It’s the fat red with white stripe wire. The other wire (blue I think) has the start/crank signal on it.Chuck McTruck 71 J4000

What's wrong with the ignition wire to the coil?
The on/off just powers an internal relay - doesn't draw much and doesn't even need full voltage.
Illustration on the later pages should show the original ignition wire gets removed from the coil positive. The box may even have an isolator tab with connectors. They used to come in the package.Last edited by nograin; 02-21-2019, 08:02 AM.'85 Grand Wagoneer
