Okay, I read the TechSection, and saw a few ideas in there, this is what I want to do:
In my J3000, the axels (front and rear) are both under the spring. Dont know if this was stock, or done later (guy at the parts store was surprised). I do want to add about 2", they suggested:
Rear:
2" Block kit (blocks, ubolts) for the rear
new shocks for the rear (I dont want to spend more than $40 a shock, givertake.
Front: obviously not to use blocks. Perhaps shackles, who makes super strong ones? I dont want to plummet off a 'hillside' when a shackle snaps at the deathlike speed of 45 mph. Should I go with shackles (1 1/2-2" tops for front lift) or an add-a-leaf system? New shocks up front too while I have everything apart.
Steering: It tends to wander a bit on the dirt roads, the looks of surprise on oncomers faces is amusing, but I'd like to tone it down a wee bit. Can I put a steering stablized on this? 30-40 bux, was the average price i saw, who makes a decent one?
I've looked over whats involved laborwise..its not a daily driver and this looks like it could all be done on a motivated weekend with my skill level and tools (I have all I need, just no welding or air compressor/wrench capabilities...yet)
I was figuring a budget of *cough* around 250-300 for the above mentioned, sound feasible? Can I do better for that?
Thanks guys, if I can get this all done by July, be seeing y'all at Ouray (hell, its only 75 miles away)
