    Is this prissy?

Don't know if this belongs here, but makes me pretty happy!

Not all of the headliner board sag came out, and the plaid doesn't line up between the two panels. Much better than the stapled old headliner up there.

Has anyone had any success with some sort of adhesive blocks or some other approach to reduce the sag? Tried velcro tape but the roof ribs are too deep for it to stick.

mine in the 88 wagoner has droops in the same area....

I did not try to remove them,....it is light tan.

although some have had success wetting the board and adding weights,....

too late for that, it looks fine,...

you posted in the right section.....

the GW's as you know have shown up in many Ralph Lauren/polo ads over the years....and the plaid fits right into that niche.

NICE WAGONEER...love the original "shag" pile carpet...would make Austin powers "randy"...

I am not sure why AMC went the way they did attaching the roof racks. TERRIBLE design. They leak, they are not strong, and they are kind of a PITA to put on. (facepalm)

I LLOOOOooooove you headliner, Mr. Johnsonic. I have nothing of value to add; just me coveting.

Weirdly - there were no water marks on the headliner board & no evidence of leaks from those wellnuts. I think it could have just been 35 years of gravity to make the sag.

I totally agree with hating the way the rack is attached! After knowing how that thing is held on, will never ever tie anything substantial up there.

On my luggage rack on the GW

            during installation
each screw and or well nut that came thru roof
            got sealant on screw thread

and a wad of 3M Strip caulk
( black tar type material stays supple for many years )
under the roof,... stuck it on the screws, etc. formed it tight to roof and screw
            with my hand.

            even around the well nuts,...
            totally sealed them up

I agree, years of gravity prob helped that sagging along...

Mulling something along those same lines for mine! great job. Where did you find the fabric?

Just went to the local fabric mart, found a pattern I liked, and got enough to use. It's actually not headliner fabric, pretty thick with a coarse weave. We'll see how it holds up 10 years from now, curious if the weight will make it go droopy.
