Lightbulb possible tailgate mod (idea for now)

Anyone ever done or seen a swing to the side tailgate? Kinda like a swing away tire carrier. Thought it'd be neat. Plus it'd make getting stuff in and out of the cargo area a ton easier. Pics?????? Thanks

WELL

Cut the guts out of an early 70's model ford wagon that worked both ways they laid down & swung open.

an '80's Pontiac Perrisene Wagon or Buick equivalent did the same thing. Interesting idea.........

What about fabing some swing mounts on the pass side. Think the side of the tailgate is sturdy enough to hold its own weight? I know from experience the tailgate by itself weights quite a bit.

There is also the 'barn door' mod. One of our members made some a few years ago, since the factory ones are old and rare.http://www.ifsja.org/forums/vb/showt...ght=barn+doors

Early Vista Cruisers did that too. I have always liked that idea.
