    EXTERIOR SIDE MIRRORS

going to replace the tripod mirrors on my j10
......you know, the ones that require
    3 holes in the door

I know the mirrors are easy to find new
    and they are cheap

But,...are there any better quality mirrors than the "el cheapo"

    ones we see everywhere ?

and wouldn't it be a good idea to use well nuts like used on roof rack of wagoneers instead of how 99% are installed with just a sheet metal screw ?

Dave - why are you replacing them? Just want something different?

I replaced mine recently because they were huge and stuck way out, was afraid of taking out some mailboxes. The mirror itself was 7 x 10, and I found nice replacements that are 5 x 7. I also shorted the stalk so that the mirror is closer to the door.

I used well nuts on mine when I got around to re-attaching the loose mounts. Mine were factory (no small mirrors were removed) and the holes were the right size for the well nuts and they worked quite well. I wondered if they were originally mounted that way. I'm glad I used the well nuts, no rattles, no leaks and I won' have to worry about taking the door apart to tighten the mounts if they get loose.

Correction- it just needed a water pump!

        cliff, doing a full restoration
old holes welded up, doors in primer.

replacing old mirrors with new, like the look of the tripod mirrors.
also like west coast mirrors like member: driftwood has

but mounting location on door frame changed my mine on those.

        jpcoutts:
        thanx for the info
I thought well nuts would be a good idea too.

I've had good service from the tripods sold from Napa.
