ROLL BAR OR FACTORY BED MAT?

I do not know how to do a poll, but I have bee struggling with this for a long time. My J-20 has a factory bed mat and a factory type roll bar----BUT I have not installed the inner portion of the roll bar because I am concerned with: 1. cutting out the bed mat around the bolt heads
2.drilling holes in the bed mat and mounting the bar on top of the mat

The first method still allows for removal of the mat for bed cleaning, the second method assures that the mat will still be there when I park over night on a trip. Factory bed mats are super rare, and I had to travel far and pay up for the one I have and I do not want to lose it.

Notch it to fit around the roll bar brackets. That's what I'm doing with my MJ one. You can make it so you can bolt it together around them and a couple screws at the back so it's not loose. They will slice and steal it no matter what anyways if they plan to take it. I'm making my roll bar so I can take it out and put a canopy on with 2" hitch inserts
Jeep gauges are for amusement only. Any correlation between them and reality is purely coincidental.

      Jeep SE bed mat

Nice non-weathered Jeep SE bedmats & tailgate mats are a hard find !

Nice ... Uncut / not drilled are unobtanium !

IMO the Jeep SE roll bar looks like it belongs in a short bed truck.

Also... Need to be able to easily take mat out truck for cleaning.

Check out Miller tractor tire for black tire paint/ stain.
Product was developed to make antique tractor tires look like new.
      once dry...doesn't wash off.

I've stained all my nyracord Jeep mats.

Edit: pics of before and after of Scrambler mat.

        BED MAT

I agree Dennis. Thanks to you I have this mint bed mat. I kinda like the look of the factory roll bar though. Perhaps I'll just bolt it in on top and leave the bottom bolts out.

That is what I would do.. I'm sure you can get the bar to mount tight enough against the mat without marking it or being too loose.

I need some of that tire paint for my old Jeep mudflaps. Then I can save the NOS sets for something else besides a work truck.

            Don't mount the mat

You need to make sure that you can remove the mat and clean all the leaves/dirt/whatever out from under it.

All of the rust in my bed floor is because the PO never removed the mat to clean out the bed. The dirt was packed in under it like concrete and allowed the water to pool without draining.
