possibly getting rid of carpet from rear seat back, couple questions

I have an 89 GW with Tan interior, and I am getting tired of the carpet in the cargo area looking like crap, both back corners are pretty tattered and full of holes, and I don't want to buy new carpet and wreck it by hauling stuff back there, so I was thinking about doing bedliner back there.

Has anyone made metal side panels to replace the carpet ones or done bedliner to get more of a pickup like bed in the back of Their GW? Aslo, would black bedliner look like crap with an otherwise all tan interior?

Just keep in mind it makes it loud. I did the whole floor thinking a quick clean up/wash out but the back was like a megaphone and the front was a heater!
Just what I saw on mine.

FWIW, I scrounged the JY for a truck bed mat.

Once I found one ($10), I cut and trimmed it to fit. It looks pretty good in there to be honest. It covers the entire "bed" from the tailgate to the lip under the seat.

I know it's not perfect, but neither is my Jeep, and I'm only out 10 bones and a razor blade.

YMMV,
John

I have a cargo mat made by Kargo King. it fits perfectly, i found it in a JY in the back of an early wagoneer. $15

Under that, i have truck bed liner. It is the roll on Plastikote DIY kit. It was around $45 and has held up decently. There are some areas that have chipped, but i use a rattle can bedliner for touchups and it works.

I cant speak to how much louder it is than stock, but it isnt terrible.
