I am looking down the road to switch my rear drums to disk brakes... of course this is after I get a TBI set up and a few other mods but I have a few questions about the conversion...
How do you do it?
What kits and/or set ups are the best?
And how do you have an e brake with rear disk brakes?

Well Steve I installed a kit from TSM you can find in the back of most 4*4 mags, for about 200 bucks,, simple install about 2 hrs worth basic tools, use's GM rotor's and Camero calipers,or if you want parking brakes you can buy the 200.00 a piece caddy calipers, I used the 20.00 a pair camero calipers and installed a line lock for another 20.00 works great every time, this kit is for Dana 44 rear axles... I just finished installing the Holley TBI 950 commander sys will let you know if its worth the cost...

I bought my calipers from a guy on ebay. I just bought the brackets at 100 bucks and then used the parts that Cliff listed. Easy and worth while swap in opinion.

do u need rear discs?

now blt2crl with those big tires cood use rear discs.

Big tires heavy rig yep your gonna need disk brakes.

Buy some caliper caliper brackets from a fabrication supply place.

Go to the parts store and buy some GM calipers Basicly the same thing that the FSJ's have up front. and get front chevy rotors with out the hub body.

get some brake lines and a proportioning valve throw it all at your rig and you have rear disk brakes cheap

or u can call up TSM MFG out of CO and buy their kit for 270$, not including calipers.

To remove the backing plates do you have to pull the axles on the D44?Iv'e been thinking of this for later down the road and was curious.

cliff, how long have you been using the line lock?why i ask is because having line press. in the system is not good for the calipars.once in a while is fine but leaving it on will ruin seals

Kong- Im not sure, but I think AMC 20's were on some CJ's. If Im right, you could prolly find alot more info on a CJ-dominated forum like JeepForum.com or similar. Just a thought.

hey guys, i noticed on the TSM site the kit is for a 73-86 jeep. why is that? did something change in 87?
