    6 Inch Suspension for Grand Wagoneers

    I'm torn between the BJs 4 inch lift and the 6 inch lift. One thing keeping me from the six inch lift is additional modifications.

    If I buy a 6 inch lift with pitman arm and brake lines and everything that comes in the kit with springs and shocks, is there anything else I need to buy, or anything else I need to modify to roll the rig out of the garage without additional trips to the shop.

      Go 6" it's only $25 more than the 4" plus the pitman arm. I ordered the 6".

        My issue is that I don't want my GW to look like a monster truck. I just want to give it a beefier look, but even with the 4 inch lift, its still tough to get beigger tires on there without trimming.

        Do you have any picks of your rig with the six inch lift.

            The 6" kit includes the dropped pitman arm, the 4" doesn't (it's and extra $75).

                  So you are thinking about a 6" lift?
                  Why not 7"?

                  I'm by no means bumping the BJ's parts, they put out some darn fine products.

                  The spring arch in a 6" kit is pretty severe, most of your articulation is gone into the arch for the lift.
                  Why not consider an SOA?

                    Tadsal, not everybody has the fab skills to create a good SOA suspension and I sure don't want a 7000 lb. vehicle on the road with a suspect suspension.

                    Billyrb, do you have pics that compare the 4" lift to the 6"? I am going to be ordering a lift for my wife's DD GW real soon and want to show her the options. Also, what do you recommend doing with the track bars/sway bars when you lift a GW 4"/6"?

                      As to the initial topic, a 6" kit doesn't require anything additional, but a 1" extension on the front driveshaft is advisable.

                      As for the general 4" vs 6" vs SOA, i'd say the 4" is probably more wheelable than a 6" kit frankly. Having owned the 6" kit, it worked, but didn't flex to good and I was having problems with the arch on the front springs. I bent two of them...I'm much happier with my SOA, and it's really a lot easier than it's made out to be (especially with tad's perches [img]smile.gif[/img] ). If you don't want to go into the trouble of it though, I'd say go 4" with the DPA.

                          I second the 4" kit. It will look a lot different from before but still be reasonable. You can run 31's no problem wih a 4" and it looks prety good. That's what I'm running. You might get 32's even without much trouble.

                            I second a 4" if this is to be a daily driver. 4" will get you pretty high in itself.
