Egads! My face has been shown! I am no longer an anonymous grouping of electrons on the forum! Great visit from SC/397 to make this delivery. Not to mention the hours and hours we spent talking AMC, Jeep, cars, work and just about everything under the sun. It wouldn't be fair unless a shared a pic as well. Please note the special container or pre-break-in fluid on the tailgate..

0923191700a by highsiera, on Flickr[/IMG]

I am proud of that motor? You bet, cause i know every piece and part Rick put into it, not to mention the workmanship and attention to detail it took to get it there. Now am recharged and working my tail off to finish painting this truck and drop those horses into their new pen.

The weather continues to be on my side, all I need is 2 more weekends and everything I need for this winter will be painted. Mrs. Fox will be grateful too, she's been dropping words like "obsessive," and "just a hobby" and "having fun" a lot lately...

Some shiny painted stuff for Rang. Don't look too close, I have weeks worth of buffing to do on the clear coat.

0924191219a by highsiera, on Flickr[/IMG]

I'll post some more pics in next weeks once the exterior is shot.

That is not really me... That is some handsome brute just posing as me. LOL!
Not good if your wife thinks that you are having fun. That probably wasn't in the marriage agreement. You had better go back to telling her about how much all of this work sucks and that you are miserable every time that you have to work on it. She may be more ok with it if that she knows that you are miserable. Just a thought.
Seriously though, I had a blast hanging around for a day. Thanks, again!

cool post.

I wish I had rick to build an engine for me.

I will if there is a next time.

I can tell he is very knowledgable
and thorough.

anxious to see it in your truck

and you driving it.

you have done a. lot of work, and it will pay off.

P.S. I LOVE THAT WAGONEER SHIRT !!!

I'm not happy with the way the step part of the step sides fits, but I'm going to deal with that in the spring. Most of my weekends have been spent blocking, sanding, filling small defects and generally going slowly crazy trying to get this ready for paint. I did take some time off from that grind to build a small box to contain the filler neck for the aux fuel tank. There's a lot going on in this corner but it was nice to get my mind back to work after the drudgery of sanding primer.

In other news, Rick is done with the engine, which is a huge motivator. Bed is completely apart again and sanded down to 400. Paint and clear are purchased. Cab and doors are down to 320. front clip also. Plan for the next 2 weekends is to totally clean out the shop and rebuild my "booth" into a spray booth. Then to shoot base and clear on all the bed parts and whatever little trinkets I can fit in there as well.

Thanks for following along

Looking fantastic man! Is there a rubber gasket of any kind between the fenders and metal bed?

Jeepman, yes I have some roll butyl rubber with a PSA backing i plan on using between the fiberglass and the metal bed. The oem was some kind of foam gasket material that apparently disintegrated pretty quickly in the elements. WHSIII, did some work on this subject in his extensive build thread, I'm sorta following his lead here, ( and other things). For the other panels, I bought some strip caulk from Eastwood which appears to be very similar to the original stuff and was far less expensive than the 3M offering at our local auto paint shop.

Somewhere, simultaneously after reading this, a man in Michigan and a man in Virginia had beer come out of both their mouths and noses at the same time after laughing so hard it hurt. I will not speak for SC/397, but you are far too kind... and wrong...

Thank you Rang.

Quick update. Painting almost finished. I need one more weekend to get everything done I want to get painted before it gets cold here. These pics stink, sun was almost gone, it was overcast and I was tired. But felt pretty good seeing the cab in color finally. a couple of runs, a sag, nothing that can't be fixed. I will deal with all the corrections later in sections.

Plan for this weekend is to paint/ clear the front clip. Paint the dash and some interior hard pieces, spray the bedliner and get the bed out of the shop for now.

The current goal is to have the motor, trans, and t-case set in by November 1.

That color is awesome! It's gonna look so nice when you are done!

Is that a general Motors color? I had a 1999 Oldsmobile mommy-van a while ago and it looked a lot like that color. Especially the picture of your bed.
