I have AAA insurance too. I noticed on my policy it is listed as a "Wagoneer/G. Wagoneer." Me thinks whoever created the listing in the AAA system assumes the Grand Wagoneer is just another version of the XJ Cherokee based "Wagoneer" and they value it accordingly. That's why the insurance is so cheap on a truck that actually has some serious re-sale value in good condition. Compare that to an XJ wagoneer that might fetch $2,500 in great shape. I never bothered to inform them of their mistake.

Unless you've done something like an agreed value policy, an SJ and an XJ *are* the same thing from the insurance company's standpoint; they're both essentially worthless. They don't use market value for insurance purposes, they use KBB/NADA/Edmunds/etc.
I have the same problem with my motorcycles. They'd cost WAY more to replace than what the insurance thinks they're worth (basically $0), so I had to do an agreed value policy to get replacement coverage.

At least you aren't a teenager, My wagoneer was costing me about $200 a month last time i had it on the road. The Cherokee is registered to my mother for good reason!

Uuuhhh...wow? Is your driving record clear? That's insane. My sports car doesn't cost that much...nowhere near.

My insurance is about 100 bucks a year for the GW with a 5k payout if totaled. However, I am giving serious thought to repainting her to give her back that Metallic Hunter Green of her yesteryear. Who do you guys use to appraise your older vehicles? If I am going to drop serious cash on a repaint, I am sure as heck gonna want more than 5K in case of some texting teen smashing in me, like what happened to my wife and our Ford last month.
I know some guys in in local car clubs... would this be a local thing or national? I have AAA as well and they weren't too knowledgeable about anything prior to 1992.
