PB just gave internet forums the middle finger. This idiotic policy change really did some damage to a crapload of great threads.

PB just locked up my photos yesterday and yeah, $400 a year with no other option. What's worse is, even if I change to another service, most of the posts I made can't be edited to change the picture links. Unless a moderator can make a change for me. (hint hint). Straight from the horses a$$, I mean mouth.

      What is 3rd party hosting?

Photobucket defines 3rd party hosting as the action of embedding an image or photo onto another website.
For example, using the <img> tag to embed or display a JPEG image from your Photobucket account on another website such as a forum, Etsy, eBay auction listings, blog, etc. is definitively 3rd party hosting.

So what's the point of having a photo hosting website if you can't share your pics? If I want to email a pic, it's already on my HD and I can send from there. PB sucks.

Now without paying $400, how do I fix my build thread?

        Testing Photo Bucket

Mine still works... wonder for how long?
I've never spent a dime at Photo Bucket.

I quit using them quite a while back.. moving on...

What's worse, even if I did pony up the $400, that's only good for a year and I still can't change the links.

Anyone remember that other photo hosting website that shut down without warning? Geez, must have been back in 1999-2002 era. I swore then I'd never do that again..... Ha!

Wasn't that GeoCities? Those were entire web pages/forums in some cases. All gone overnight.

Had a huge build thread on CJ-8.com. Mostly on Webshots. Webshots changed to Smile, all my pics went away. Spent hours trying to rebuild the thread using Photobucket. Now all those pics are gone. Luckily, CJ-8 now hosts their own pics. But it turns out you can only see them if you're a member.

Needless to say, Photobucket can Sucket.

So...what to do for here? All my J20 pic links are broken, and the idea of starting over using one of the other online hosting services is not that appealing right now. Any Ideas?

Weird. My photobucket (free) account works fine. I can link pics all day long. Maybe it's just for new accounts?

my photobucket account is older than this website... it's not a "new" account thing, unless you mean to say only new accounts aren't affected..

gonna see if deleting stuff I don't use and trimming down fixes my threads... otherwise I definitely need a suitable replacement...

Nope. Meant maybe the new regulations only affects new accounts. If yours is an old account and effected, maybe it's not site wide yet. My account is from around 2006 or so.

I'm not certain exactly how old mine is but I reckon somewhere around 2003 ish. My account is apparently registered to their 6th server, which is useless information for dating unless you can find a timeline for when servers went online.

                          anyways, testing postimage.org

and pb after deleting a bunch of old stuff.

nice so PB works again, you just have to have less than X number of photos currently hosted off site... so for yall trying to fix threads, delete stuff you have that doesn't matter to your threads or PB in general and cross your fingers. Keep trimming the fat until it works. I deleted approx 500 pictures, maybe half were hosted on various other sites, many of them on several but ultimately it's still a guessing game..

another one I mean to try is VGY.me but they are evidently down for maintenance... extra traffic from PB hemorrhaging users must be clogging down their servers, lol.

We're either all affected or going to be affected if you don't spend the money. My account isn't new and I don't have a ton of pics on it. Maybe 300? But they're getting everyone internetwide.
