That intake looks nice. I thought for sure you were gonna put a supercharger on it though. I'm sure someone makes adapters.

Not so fun job today ...

Today was a project I have been avoiding for some time. Removed the rear Aux tank from the spare area. I have hated this since I bought the Jeep 5 years ago.
Of course, the gauge said it was at 1/8 of a tank or less ... NOPE. Half full at least. HEAVY !

[IMG][/IMG]

Going down... and out !

[IMG][/IMG]

Anybody want a Aux tank set up with the dash switch, wiring and fuel valve? The price will be right! Buy now and it comes with a half tank of fuel !! LOL

More fun and games . . .

After removing the tank, I installed the rear shocks.. I didn't know the fuel fill metal tube attached to the shock bolt? Hmm, is that normal? Not what is shown in my 77 manual.

[IMG][/IMG]

And discovered this .. a LOT of rust internal to the fill tube. How does one clean that out? I don't want this crap in my freshly cleaned tank, lines, filter, etc...

Sweet Sounds Delivered today!

The muffler showed up today. I have always been happy with the Borla exhaust sound. throaty, but not loud. 2 1/2" pipe - Left inlet, center exit

[IMG][/IMG]

Now to find a good custom exhaust shop to fab up my idea of routing.. which is not the normal of course.

I took this cool pic from the rear tank area while doing the shocks... You can clearly see the Dana 300 and it's clocked position here. That's the rear axle yoke in the foreground.

[IMG][/IMG]

Speaking of t-case.. this is a center output t-case with an offset axle. [ Angles down, AND to the pass side. ]
Opinions on the multiple angle? Will this require a Carden joint?

And the last of today's fun.. Worked on the Dana 300 shifter. I already had to modify the cross pin that the shift rod rides on, to make it fit with the new trans and clocking position.

Today I removed the trans pan cover and took a look see at what I am facing...
This is looking down onto the trans/t-case shifter from the pass side.

[IMG][/IMG]

The shifter does not line up with the small opening at all, but it seems to fit in the larger opening. this is a CJ shift rod btw. Have the carpet peeled back to see what's going on. It seems to shift freely here? Can't be this easy ...

[IMG][/IMG]

So I slit the carpet and laid it back down. From the driver seat, it is easy to reach and shifts well up and down. Hmmm ??

[IMG][/IMG]

Checked the full range of motion up and down... This is the full forward "Low Range" position and it clears the glovebox! Great!
Seems all I have to do now is buy a CJ Dana 300 shift boot and adapt it to the trans tunnel. Sweet.

Small victory, but I'll take it !!

Fuel Tank Woes ...

I have had ongoing issues filling my fuel tank since day one.. this has been very irritating!
Now that I am redoing the tank, figured it was time to remove and redo ALL the related fill lines... Worth a try I guess.

I am NOT OCD … I am NOT OCD .. as I waste time cleaning up the mounting bolts and painted them black, polished up the fuel cap, rebuilt the fuel cap, and then cleaned up and polished the inlet mount.... Here are the parts laid out.

[IMG][/IMG]

The plasctic fill neck was in decent shape.. but the new hose was in NO WAY fitting over it? Hmm . . . Sooo.. into the kitchen I go.
Boiled the end of the hose, and then, when it was VERY hot [should've worn gloves!], struggled to wiggle it onto the larger diameter plastic neck. Two tries and I was able to get it on... Added a clamp, but really don't need it!

[IMG][/IMG]
[IMG][/IMG]

I also rebuilt the fill cap - the old one was falling apart. Found a new cap and stole the bottom parts. This lined right up in the old cap. Screwed it together and it's like new.

[IMG][/IMG]

Of course, the inlet area was filthy.. so HAD to clean that up too... Before and after.

[IMG][/IMG]

Eventually it all led to this... all installed in the rear fender. Note: There is a tab up behind the quarter panel to hold the vent hose up. you can't see it, but it's there !
Now I just have to figure out how to clean out that fill tube... After that, I will be able to install the reworked fuel tank and plumb the fuel lines....

Nice work. All those pieces are the same pieces I need but can't find. Just the metal fill neck the gas cap attaches to would be nice but can't seem to find those either. Suggestions? How are you going to fill that extra hole in the quarter panel?

I gotta ask. Those aren't radiator hoses, right?

And where'd you get them?

Today I checked driveline angles... F/R propshafts, engine, etc. They look pretty good.

Measured up the required rear prop. I am going to have a shop modify the old one. Looks like it needs to be about 2" longer, but I will let them decide.

Also need to order a front yoke for the Dana 300 that will accept the Q-Trac CV joint. Lucky as the length is correct...

Called and getting scheduled at the exhaust shop .. it's going to be a couple of weeks.

Wiring/ECU update.. Swaptime says it should be completed this week. Maybe I'll get it back next week?

Also called the place that cleaned and fixed up my tank - they will do the rusty fuel fill tube. just have to drive up there and drop it off...

I am estimating another 6 weeks before a drive. Maybe I'm being optimistic ?? lol
